Ceramco Inc, custom ceramics and ceramic fasteners manufacturer
Ceramic Injection Moulding

Ceramco Tooling Department

Every ceramic product manufactured at Ceramco, Inc. begins with the creation of a “tool.” This is a ceramic injection mold used in our unique ceramic manufacturing process. With each initial part order, there is a one time tooling charge. The tool is owned by and used exclusively for that customer. It remains at Ceramco, however, and will be maintained at no additional charge for the duration of its useable life.

A tool can typically produce 10,000 ceramic parts before it requires maintenance, thereby assuring minimal interference in production. A worn tool will be re-worked when necessary and put back in service without interrupting the customer. Depending on a part's features, a multicavity tool may be an option, greatly increasing the number of parts per tool which is desirable for higher quantity orders.

The majority of technical ceramic manufacturing is done with high pressure ceramic molding techniques, such as isostatic pressing and dry pressing, which both require expensive carbide tooling. Since we only work with low pressures, our tooling is made with grade 6061 aluminum instead of a carbide, which is a key advantage for those who cannot spend tens of thousands of dollars on a single tool. Our low tool costs are considered a welcome surprise to our customers.

  • Please note that all customer tooling not used for three years becomes  “inactive” and Ceramco reserves the right to remove it from inventory.

Ceramco, Inc. uses up to date technology in toolmaking. With the aid of solidworks and surfcam cad-cam software, our customer’s design is turned into product with exceptional accuracy. Information from your drawing or CAD file is interpreted and transferred to our toolroom where we design and cut the mold. All of the moldmaking is done on accurate, CNC Toolroom equipment such as our conversational CNC Lathe and full 3 axis CNC mill.
