The production of natural gas, crude oil and nuclear power all require materials that must withstand the harshest imaginable conditions. Deepwater drilling for both natural gas and crude oil is no exception. The ocean adds several hundred meters or more to the fluid column, increasing the equivalent circulating density and downhole pressures in the drilling well.
