Ceramics in the Medical Industry

Pumps, pistons, and valves are made of technical ceramic materials like aluminum oxide (Al₂O₃) and zirconium oxide (ZrO₂) for the high wear properties and high purity, non-contaminating characteristics.  Ceramics are implantable and biocompatible, so they are excellent candidates medical applications.
