Matching & Pairing Sets, Adding Non- Ceramic Components

Ceramic components with helical insertsUnlike Ceramco’s matching and pairing sets of ceramic parts, Ceramco’s basic assembly process encompasses the adding of non-ceramic components to the OEM ceramic parts that we manufacture. Ceramco is familiar with many applications that mate non-ceramic components to our alumina, zirconia and customer-defined OEM ceramic parts and the challenges they present.

Adding Non-ceramics to Ceramic Parts

When an assembly requires the combining of a non-ceramic threaded component such as a helical insert or a screw into a ceramic thread, our understanding of the materials and how they work together result in consistent and reliable finished products.

Either internal or external ceramic threads can be incorporated into many of the custom parts manufactured by Ceramco during HPIM, LPIM, microPIM, or the additive manufacturing (3D printing) forming process. This production knowledge makes us familiar with virtually every thread type, including OEM made thread forms.

In addition, Ceramco’s engineering, expertise in machining and our knowledge of metallurgy (the sister field) provide a broad foundation for the understanding of non-ceramic components and how to successfully integrate them with the ceramic parts Ceramco manufactures into a basic assembly.

Matching & Pairing All-ceramic Assemblies

A "Complete Picture" Approach Can Lower Costs

The nature of our business is such that many of the ceramic parts we make are components of a larger assembly. When these assemblies are all-ceramic, further processing by Ceramco becomes a viable consideration for the customer.

Often, the design specifications of OEM ceramic mating components can be met at Ceramco using less demanding tolerances. This is accomplished before the manufacturing process begins by matching the mating ceramic components as sets. The ability to reduce or even eliminate machining can lead to significant cost savings.

Typical all-ceramic assemblies which benefit include:

  • Ceramic enclosures
  • Ceramic halves
  • Ceramic caps or covers

People Making it Happen

At Ceramco, basic assembly is so much more than simply joining dissimilar parts. Our skilled craftsmen and their knowledge of both materials and processes often lead to cost savings for our customers.
